Rachel can work with one class for a whole day to create a unique willow structure or can spend time with several classes throughout the day making one or two small items for each child. The sessions work equally well indoors or outdoors.

Rachel has 15 years experience as an environmental educator working with school groups of all ages in the outdoors and is fully CRB checked. Risk assessments are conducted for all activities.

Examples of projects for schools

Small willow items – willow crowns, dream catchers, seasonal wreaths, fish, snails, flat baskets, larger round baskets (key stage 4), lanterns.

Larger willow items – willow insects, people, animals, nests, sculptural pieces.

Living willow for school grounds – see Living Willow page.

Wattle and daub – make a wattle hurdle, mix your daub of mud and straw with feet and plaster your panel to recreate an ancient building technique that has been used for the last 6,000 years!

Natural Art –work with natural materials, such as clay, mud, sticks, charcoal, plants and leaves to create an outdoor art gallery with your class!
